Our story

We saw a gap. Businesses were ready. The tools were not.

QShop started in Lagos in 2020. Businesses around us were already selling: through Instagram DMs, WhatsApp threads, word of mouth, and sheer persistence. They had customers. They had products. What they did not have were tools that actually fit the way they worked.

Most e-commerce platforms were built for Western markets, desktop-first, complex to set up, and disconnected from how business actually works here: on mobile, through WhatsApp, through personal networks and trust.

So we built QShop. A platform where a business owner can go from zero to taking paid orders in under 10 minutes. Where customers can browse and order through WhatsApp, the app they already use every day. Where every sale, every customer, and every naira earned is theirs to see, manage, and own.

Today QShop powers more than 35,000 businesses across Nigeria and beyond. We are still building. Most recently, we launched Checkout by QShop, a WhatsApp-native shopping experience that turns a simple link into a full storefront inside WhatsApp. We are just getting started.

Most e-commerce platforms were built for Western markets. We built QShop for how business actually works here: on mobile, through WhatsApp, through personal networks and trust.

Our team

Built by people who understand the hustle

QShop was founded with a simple belief: that every business owner deserves tools that work the way they work. Not enterprise software scaled down, but purpose-built solutions for the realities of running a business in Africa.

Today, our team is spread across Lagos and beyond, united by a shared mission to make selling easier for the businesses that power our communities.

The QShop team
What we believe

The values that shape how we build and how we work.

These are not posters on a wall. They are the reasons we make the product decisions we do and the standard we hold ourselves to.

Empowerment

We support businesses with accessible tools that make growth possible. Every feature we build is a bet that the right tool in the right hands can change someone's livelihood.

Passion

We are committed to building technology that creates meaningful impact, not just for our users but for the communities they operate in. This is not just a product. It is a cause.

Innovation

We explore new ideas and technologies so our users stay competitive. Checkout by QShop did not exist a few years ago. What comes next will surprise us too, and that is the point.

Collaboration

We work closely with the businesses on our platform to understand what they actually need. The best product decisions we have made came from listening, not assuming.

Integrity

We operate with transparency and fairness. That means being honest about what QShop does and does not do, pricing that makes sense, and support that treats people with respect.

Intellectual Humility

We do not have all the answers. We stay open to new approaches, change course when we are wrong, and believe that being willing to learn is what keeps a product alive.

Our mission

To give every small business in Africa the tools to sell, get paid, and grow on their own terms.

Our vision

To be the platform that powers the next generation of African businesses and the communities they build.

Omotolani

“QShop helped me turn my side hustle into a real business. I used to lose track of orders in my DMs. Now everything is in one place, and my customers can pay instantly.”
